Privacy Policy

Last updated 5 July 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how SkinFam ("we", "us", or "our") handles information when you use the SkinFam mobile app ("Services").

The short version. Your diary stays on your device. Your profiles, skin ratings, notes, sleep and scratch logs, routines, and photos are stored only on your own phone and are never uploaded to us. The only information on our servers is the anonymous content you choose to post in the optional, adults only (18+) community. SkinFam is a personal diary and peer support community, not a medical device, and it does not give medical advice.

If you have any questions, contact us at skinfam2026@gmail.com.

1. What information we handle

We do not collect information about you from third parties.

2. How we use information

3. Legal bases (EU and UK users)

Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we rely on: your consent (which you can withdraw at any time); performance of our agreement to provide the Services; our legitimate interests in keeping the community safe and the app secure; and compliance with legal obligations.

4. Who we share information with

We do not sell your personal information. We use a small number of service providers who process data only on our behalf:

Other members. Anything you post in the community can be seen by other members and is shared anonymously. Please share only your own experience and no personal information.

We may also share information if required by law, or as part of a business transfer such as a merger or acquisition.

5. AI features

Some optional features use AI provided by Anthropic, for example summarising your own week or reading a product's ingredient list from a photo. The content you choose to use with these features is sent to the AI provider only to produce that result. You can turn AI summaries off in the app's Settings, or simply not use the optional AI features. No account is needed and you do not have to contact us.

6. International transfers

Our servers and providers are located in places including Ireland, Germany, and the United States. Where information is transferred out of the EEA or UK, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.

7. How long we keep information

We keep community posts and replies only as long as needed to run the community. You can delete your own posts and replies at any time, which removes them from our server. Basic server logs are kept for a short period for security and then deleted. Your on-device diary is never collected by us, so there is nothing for us to keep.

8. How we keep information safe

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect information we process. No method of transmission or storage is fully secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we work to protect your information.

9. Children

The community is for adults only and requires you to confirm you are 18 or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through the community. A parent or guardian may use the app to keep a private, on-device diary for their child, and that diary stays on the device and is never collected by us.

10. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, to receive a copy, to object to or restrict processing, and to withdraw consent at any time. In the app you can delete your own community posts and replies, and delete all data on your device at any time from Settings.

To make a request, email us at skinfam2026@gmail.com. We will respond in line with applicable law. EU and UK residents may also complain to their local data protection authority. Australian residents may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.

11. United States privacy rights

If you live in a US state with a privacy law (such as California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maryland, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Oregon, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, or Virginia), you may have the right to confirm whether we process your information, to access, correct, or delete it, to obtain a copy, and to opt out of any sale, targeted advertising, or profiling. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for targeted advertising or automated profiling.

To exercise any of these rights, email us at skinfam2026@gmail.com. We will verify your request using the information we already hold. If we decline a request, you may appeal by replying to our response, and you may also contact your state attorney general. Under California's "Shine the Light" law, we confirm that we do not share personal information with third parties for their own direct marketing.

12. Do Not Track

Some browsers and devices offer a "Do Not Track" signal. There is no agreed industry standard for how to respond to these signals, so we do not currently respond to them. If a standard is adopted, we will update this policy.

13. Updates to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date above shows the latest version. If we make material changes, we will make that clear in the app.

14. Contact

Questions or requests about your privacy can be sent to skinfam2026@gmail.com.
