EczemaWise vs SkinFam: What's Different

Last updated 8 August 2026

EczemaWise, the National Eczema Association's official tracking app, is closing on December 18, 2026. If you've used it and are looking at what's next, here's an honest comparison, not to knock EczemaWise, it was a genuinely trusted, purpose-built tool, but to help you see what's actually different if SkinFam is one of your options.

Where they're similar

Both let you log flare severity, itch, and triggers day to day, and both are built specifically around eczema rather than being a general health app. If daily symptom tracking is all you need, either one covers that core.

Where they differ

Data and privacy. EczemaWise was tied to NEA's patient registry, part of its value was contributing to eczema research, which meant your data lived on their servers. SkinFam takes the opposite approach on purpose, your diary and photos never leave your phone, there's no account and nothing to upload.

Family use. SkinFam supports separate profiles, so a parent can track their own skin and each of their kids' separately in one app, rather than needing multiple accounts.

Extras. SkinFam includes photo comparison over time, routine reminders, and optional premium features like AI weekly summaries, reading product ingredients from a photo, and doctor-ready PDF reports.

This is a general comparison based on publicly available information, not medical advice. Neither app diagnoses or treats eczema, always talk to your doctor about your skin.

If you're deciding

If privacy and keeping your data off any server matters to you, or you're tracking for more than one person, SkinFam is worth trying. Get SkinFam free on the App Store, or read what to look for in a new tracker more generally first.
